About Sharyn

Artistic and Scientific Creativity

Sharyn has a background in both art and science. Her interest in photography began as a child when her father gave Sharyn her first camera. As an adult, Sharyn pursued her interest in public health research and earned multiple graduate degrees. After school, Sharyn enjoyed a productive research career.

Her jewelry handcrafting, photography and digital painting are primarily self-taught. She had a darkroom in her home for many years before switching to a digital camera. Over the within the last 10 years, she has learned digital painting in order to add another art form to what she can offer clients.  Most recently, she has  learned jewelry handcrafting and has will soon launch her newest collection of beautiful jewelry.

Designing research studies requires creativity. The scientist must ask “What if?” in order to see a research idea. Sharyn has published articles in many publications in scientific and medical literature. In those publications, she used the name Sharyn Bowman Greberman (this is her legal name, which she uses when necessary). In her work outside the research literature, she uses the name Sharyn Bowman. Because of this, you will find her under two names if you search for her on Google.

Giving Back

Sharyn believes it is important to give back to the community. She volunteered her photography skills to the Silver Spring Library for several years. Sharyn volunteered as National President for the National League of American Pen Women, Inc., a nationwide nonprofit charity, for almost three years. She is now Art Chair of her local branch of NLAPW.  Sharyn also serves on the Board of Directors of the Washington Guild of Goldsmiths, Inc.
